The Voss Karin is a respected and relatively uncommon model. Most were produced with German keyboards; this example is fitted with a QWERTY layout, making it particularly desirable. The finish is entirely original, presented in a restrained two-tone khaki and cream—a quietly confident palette typical of the period. The green keys give it a special, beautiful look.
This is a substantial machine. Solid, precise, and exceptionally smooth in operation, the Karin reflects Voss engineering at its most refined. The typing action is calm and controlled, with a reassuring sense of weight and balance. It is as satisfying to use as it is to look at.
The typewriter has been fully restored and serviced. Mechanically, it operates exactly as designed. The action is clean and consistent, the alignment precise. The platen is smooth, the paper feed rollers supple, and the rubber feet grip the desk securely. Chrome surfaces are bright and well preserved. Cosmetic wear is minimal and appropriate to age.
The keyboard includes additional characters for European languages. A new ribbon is installed, allowing immediate use. The typeface is Voss Pica (10 cpi).
This example is accompanied by its original leather carrying case, in fine condition, with a distinctive plaid interior lining.
