Voss Typewriter, Model ST24, 1953, with NEW PLATEN!

This is the renowned, but relatively rare VOSS ST24 model typewriter with QWERTY keyboard. This example, with a champagne-coloured body and gray keys is particularly nice—especially with the new platen! It is a wonderful, solid typewriter with superb mechanics and a lovely, mid-century design. It has an amazingly solid yet smooth feel. I think of these Voss typewriters as sort of like the Cadillac of typewriters. It's a little bigger than it needs to be but within that size is luxury, smooth operation, fine engineering and a smooth ride (type). This particular Voss is an excellent example of the ST24 model, in top condition mechanically and cosmetically. The nice, tight feel of the typing makes it a pleasure to use. The wonderful, mid-century design makes it a pleasure to display.

The Model ST24 has the tabulator system which makes it more "deLuxe" than the more common model S24.
Mechanically, this typewriter works perfectly in every way. Cosmetically, it is in excellent condition with only a couple of tiny areas of wear around the spacebar. But look at the photos and you will see in what overall fine condition this typewriter is in. The chrome is in super condition. The rubber feet are soft and grip the desk. The paper feeder rollers are soft and grip the paper. The platen has been reconditioned with new rubber and this means that you will have years of typewriting pleasure.
The typeface is a very refined Pica (10 cpi). The keyboard is QWERTY, common to English language writers, with extra keys for European languages.  It has a new ribbon ribbon so you can start typing immediately..
