SORRY, SOLD! 1957 Hermes Baby Typewriter with DeLuxe Leather Case
A superb example of this classic and iconic typewriter. This Hermes Baby has a very fine and rare DeLuxe case in genuine leather with watered-silk lining. The keyboard is QWERTY with keys for European languages. This typewriter comes from a German music-business executive who frequently traveled between Berlin and Los Angeles in the 1960s and 70s. This is not the typical Hermes faux-leather case where the base is permanently attached to the typewriter; this case is genuine leather and the entire typewriter can be removed from the base of the case.
The Hermes typewriter itself is in superb condition and is a joy to type with. Look closely at the photos and you will see the beautiful condition of this machine. The case is in extraordinarily fine condition with only slight signs of any wear. The typewriter and case have both been professionally restored. Hermes is one of the most renowned brands and models of typewriter ever made, and this is a wonderful example of the "Baby" model, also known as the "Rocket", from 1963. This is the perfect portable typing machine, weighing only ~3.6kg/8 lbs! As mentioned this typewriter has a QWERTY keyboard. The typeface is Elite (11 characters per inch) and the new ribbon is wound onto the two original metal ribbon spools (!). There are new rubber feet on the typewriter so that when you remove it from the case, it holds steady on the desktop, or fold down tray on an airplane. Mechanically, there are no "issues" to remark on; this Hermes works as it originally came from the factory.

The interior and exterior flaps and pockets are in perfect condition. The interior flap has small pockets and elastic holders for business cards, pens etc. The snaps and other closures are strong and work perfectly.
